An Alaskan health worker has developed a severe allergic reaction after receiving the Pfizer vaccine for the new coronavirus, the New York Times reported, citing three people who have become aware of the person’s health status.
The allergic reaction occurred on Tuesday and this person is in stable condition, after being admitted to hospital.
According to the report, it has not been clarified whether the vaccinated person had a history of allergic reactions.
Pfizer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has advised people with allergies to consult their doctors to make sure they are not allergic to any of the ingredients in the vaccine.
Britain’s drug regulator said earlier this month that anyone with a history of drug or food anaphylaxis should not get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine after two reports of severe allergic reactions.
