Today the Forum for Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean – With Dendia, Payat, Menendez | POLICY

Today will be held the “2nd Conference on Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean” with the participation of diplomats and politicians from Greece and the United States.

The forum is part of the further upgrade of political and diplomatic relations between Greece and the United States with the aim of emerging Greece as a pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

The forum will be attended by the Government, among others, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Nikos Dendias, the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos and the Minister of Development and Investment, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis.

The presence of the senator Chris Van Hollen from Maryland and Robert Menendez stands out from the USA, while the ambassador of the country in Athens, Jeffrey Payat, with his Greek counterpart Alexandra Papadopoulos will also participate.

Among the topics to be discussed are Greece-Cyprus-Israel-US relations, tackling tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, the emergence of Greece as a pillar of stability, the air force as a key to stability and peace in the Eastern Mediterranean, and US commitments to the Western Balkans, the impact of the US election on foreign policy, the strengthening of US-Greek relations in defense, security, energy, trade and tourism, and an understanding of Turkish strategy and the growing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The event is supported and co-organized by the Delphi Economic Forum and the Hellenic American Leadership Council.
